The Best of the Worst: July 31

With Hyuna's hot mess of music video* and SM's ultimate trolling with Red Velvet's "Happiness,"** I've been a bit distracted this week. But I was still able to hoe these shit potatoes for you.

They're not as delicious as this, though.

I Spy: A Bunch of Shit That Doesn't Make Sense 7

Today, SM released its retaliation against f(x) latest girl group, Red Velvet.

The group's debut song, "Happiness," clearly came from That-Group-That-Must-Not-Be-Named-Again's reject pile.

The inner thoughts of Lee Soo Man: "You want out from my clutches, Sulli? Fine!
I'll make sure everyone forgets you as soon as you leave. My plan? OMBRE!!"

As if that's not bad enough, whoever created the video clearly drew inspiration from a frightening combination of Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Fiestar, and drugs.

What does this mean for us? A deliciously nonsensical video.

I spy shit off the port bow!

So get out your shit-spotting binoculars, kids. It's time to play I Spy: A Bunch of Shit That Doesn't Make Sense.

Cheerz: Troublemaker "Troublemaker"

We have an extra lazy Cheerz this week. It most definitely has nothing to do with me spending all my time enlarging Eunji's head and watching Music Core.

But not to fear: Though the post is lazy, the song is amazing. In fact, "Troublemaker" is one of my all-time favorite jams. And Hyunseung? Mmmmm. Boy hasn't looked this good since, well, this song in 2011.

It's tough being a Hyunseung fan sometimes.

Enjoy this rare 4:20 seconds of all-hot Hyunseung.

Oh yeah, and I'm sure we'll be all over the new Hyuna gorilla-fetish MV when it drops. I've seen the live performances, and they're deliciously terrible.

Laughable Photoshop: Eunji edition

I was scanning Twitter the other day, when I came across this particularly jarring Photoshop fail:

Threehorns don't play with longnecks.

Review: Girl's Day "Darling"

Shit, I like a Girl's Day song.

This goes against everything I stand for. Now I'm gonna have to peel the
"IH8GIRLSDAY" bumper sticker off my car. Good thing I decided against that tattoo.

The Best of the Worst: July 17

Another week, another batch of crappy kpop news. You'd think they'd learn by now.

So what's new? We've got an adult website using an idol's photo, more obnoxious social justice warriors, and a cover group that's so crazy, it can only be for Exo.

If SM ever loses an Exo member again, they now have spares.

Music Core enhanced with Vitamin Zico

Man, Music Core just keeps getting better. First, they banned SM lipsyncing. Now, we get to see Zico every week as MC?

Get better sound production and some good cameramen, and you might displace Inkigayo as my favorite music show, Music Core.

In related news, this came out today:

The Best of the Worst: July 10

Happy Thursday, everyone. We hope you brought your appetites with you, because we have quite the shit picnic for you today. Our spread includes Lee Hyori's fake life, Goo Hye Sun's massive popularity, and Girls' Day's Sojin sharing a story about that time she got flashed.

DISCLAIMER: Dramatic interpretation. Might not have happened this way.

My Latest Obsession

Seven months into the year, I think I've finally found the new series I included as part of my New Year's resolutions. Basically, "My Latest Obsession" will look at what new kpop song, video, performance, or whatever I can't get enough of at the moment.

This first installment features two songs I've had on repeat this weekend.

Our first 10 kdramas

Soyeon Friend and I recently finished watching our 10th kdrama. To mark the occasion, I'm recapping them. The list proceeds in the order in which we watched the shows with a rating at the end of each recap. Special thanks goes to Anti Kpop-Fangirl for recommending many of these dramas to us. He's got good taste.

A couple warnings: We watched almost exclusively rom-coms. Only one of the following shows is straight drama. It's just a preference thing. Also, this post is way long.

So pull up a seat, and enjoy this trip down kdrama memory lane.

Cheerz: Miss A "Love Again"

The Best of the Worst: July 3

Let's just call this "Bom's Bad Week." First there was that laughable "drug-smuggling" scandal from an incident four years ago. Now people are claiming she's even more of an ahjumma than before.

If you start stuffing your purse with Xanaxes after this week,
I totally understand, Bom.
