Best of the Worst: May 12, 2016

A kpop group got its own Twitter emoji! That's great, and we should be happy, right?

Well, unfortunately, it had to happen to the group with the most annoying fanbase: BTS.

Seriously, any other group would have been preferable.

Best of the Worst: April 29, 2016

Best of the Worst has reached its apex. Sadly, it can only go down from here. And it's not because of iKON's tragic photoshoot or CL's revealing instagram post.

It's because of cats.

More specifically, it's because of SHINyan — a cat version of SHINee that was created to stand in for the real SHINee in Japan because they're so busy.

Best of the Worst: April 14, 2016

This week, Gyuri dropped a bombshell: KARA is not dead!

OK, well, maybe the group is. It all depends on how you view the situation. If you're like me, you'd consider a group whose members are at different agencies doing their own things as "disbanded." If you're positive and life-affirming like Gyuri, you'd consider that group alive and well.

Soyeon's Instagram Greatest Hits

If you know what this thing is, you're in for a treat.
My dear friend loves posting things on Instagram. In fact, she likes to post on Instagram a lot, far more than she does on Twitter. Now, if you're not her friend or even her fan, you could be forgiven for not keeping completely up to date with everything she posts. Luckily, you're in luck, because I've got all her hottest posts right here.

Best of the Worst: April 7, 2016

This week in shitty kpop news, we discover which boy and girl group members are like siblings, which entertainer's wealth increased 250 percent in a month, and which idol has impressive chugging skills.

Best of the Worst: March 31, 2016

I've written before about my obsession with Seolhyun's cardboard cutout of herself. Well, today I found out that not only do they sell for three times what it cost to make the original (about $87 now), but they're also available for purchase!

Finally, a chance for Seolhyun to come hither at me.

Naturally, I tried to see if there were any on Amazon. But alas, there were none. Amazon did have some snazzy other cutouts, though. Might have to get me one of those.

Best of the Worst: March 24, 2016

This week, we've got an idol who's impressed by a shower, a girl group member you can't take anywhere, and an uncomfortable situation with Seolhyun.

Well aren't you nice? Now please, get the fuck off me.

Best of the Worst: March 10, 2016

Hello friends, and welcome to the drunk idols edition of Best of the Worst! I didn't intend this week to have a theme; it just happened that way. So anyway, please enjoy the following pickings, which include obnoxious cross-dressing, Eunji's hot workout, and TWO stories involving idols with soju.

Drunk Sulli is all of us who just don't give anymore fucks.

I Hate Ryu Sera

This isn't just some simple k-pop, "Haha! I hate Taeyeon for kicking out Jessica" type hatred. No, this is something more. I actually hate her. I hate Ryu Sera. I hate her with every fiber of my being.

Review: Jimin, featuring Xiumin "Call You Bae"

AOA's Jimin released her first "official" solo song this week. So how was it?

Not good, fam. Not good.

Kpop Osmosis: Or how I learned every Exo member's name without trying

I've been a hardcore kpop fan for about six years now, and I've been active on kpop blogs and Twitter for over three. In that time, I've learned a lot of useless kpop facts I wish I hadn't devoted brain space to. Things like:

  • Jessica's boyfriend's name is Tyler Kwon, and he has an absolutely monstrous forehead.
  • Former A Pink member Yookyung has a rich dad.
  • Girl's Day's Sojin went to school for mechanical engineering.
  • Seohyun loves sweet potatoes.
  • Siwon is super rich and religious and doesn't much care for the gays.

Stuff like that.*

All that pales, though, in comparison to the amount of Exo knowledge I've acquired despite my best attempts to do otherwise. I call this Kpop Osmosis, the phenomenon by which a person absorbs useless kpop information through no effort of their own.

Best of the Worst: Feb. 25, 2016

Something terrible has happened to one of our most important idols: AOA (aka "Good") Jimin. It was revealed this week that someone is trying to kill her!

And by kill her, I mean her career. Because why else would the latest teaser for her upcoming solo look like this:

What even? Why??

Why, Mommy, why?

An Open Letter to Hyomin

What. The Fuck.
Dear Hyomin.

I have been a T-ara fan for many years. I have always supported my unnies, but I couldn't just let this one go. I am shocked and saddened to find out that you have turned into a slut. I remember back in the "Like a First Time" days when you were very pretty and appealing without resorting to taking your shirt off and balancing on the floor like some kind of disgusting slutty seal. To think I respected you and admired you and bought a signed "Nice Body" album. I want you to know I burned it. No, not like I made a copy of it. I put it in the trashcan and burned it to ashes.

Best of the Worst: Feb. 18, 2016

Hello, readers! Welcome back to Best of the Worst, where we condense your shitty kpop news into easily digestible bites. Mmmmmmm.

Anywho ...

Question: Would you help crowdfund your faves' comeback? And if so, which group would you give money to?

Best of the Worst: Feb. 4, 2016

Kpop's been all about ugly realities this week. I don't know why. If I wanted reality, I wouldn't be listening to all this kpop. But yeah, in this edition of Best of the Worst, you'll learn Big Bang's boring reality, the truth about 4Minute's latest album sales, and what those hot high heels do to your favorite female idols' bodies.

Oh, yeah, and CL makes an appearance:

People still wear grills? It's 2016.

Reality is really scary sometimes.

Best of the Worst: Jan. 21, 2016

Kpop tackled some deep, philosophical issues this week. After wading through all that substance, I was left with a few questions for you, readers, such as:

  • Would you turn down a billionaire's proposal of marriage even if you just met him once and didn't like him?
  • If you were going to petition a kpop media outlet for something, who would it be and why?
  • And does using the same filter as someone mean you're humping behind the scenes?

Best of the Worst: Jan. 14, 2016

This week, Kris (aka Wu Yi Fan) made one step closer to full world domination. The former Exo slave member will participate in this year's NBA All-Star Celebrity Game next month. Kris will play for Team Canada and will be coached by Drake (true story).

Kris: Idol, future billionaire, balla

Best of the Worst: Jan. 7, 2016

How's 2016 treating everyone? Are you kicking its ass, or are you more the Irene to its Wendy?

Well, anyway, this week we've got a nugu with a sugar daddy, an embarrassing kpop crossover, and an idol who used to be a sasaeng.

Bold predictions for Jay Park in 2016

Jay Park's ears allow him to hear misinformation from miles away.
A strange thing happened to me as I was ringing in the New Year. I suddenly realized I could see into the future! However, as with all things in life, it came with a downside. I could only see the future as it relates to Jay Park. I quickly realized this wasn't a blessing, but a curse. How I came into it I may never know, but as part of the healing process, my therapist tells me I should talk about it. So, that's why I'm here: to reveal to you everything that will happen to Jay Park in 2016. Now, it is still difficult for me to actually discern what the future holds, but I'll do my best.
